Her Name Is Anita X Bloomingdales Dubai

And drumroll ! My very first lookbook I’ve ever done. I must say, I’m quite proud of how it’s all come together. It’s always so rewarding to see your ideas and vision come to life in such a colorful way. Being the perfectionist that I am, I usually set very high standards for myself, especially in the work that I do.

This project is no different, however, it’s not just me on the job. I knew I’d have to rely on a few more parties too.

Cue the creative collaborators …

1. A badass photographer & videographer
2. A talented & understanding stylist

Inspired by the countless #OOTD posts I keep seeing on instagram, I knew that would be the best place to hunt down the right person. Using #DubaiStreetStyle, I found an up ‘n coming DXB based cameraman under the name @gibsterg – go follow him! Name on Passport? Aqib Anwar.

People who know me, know how much I value good vibes, authentic energy as well as someone that’s passionate about what they do. Calling on Aqib to get involved was exciting and slightly daunting at the same time. I’ve never worked with him before, but I was so impressed with his photos. After stalking his profile for a while, I reached out to him, and the next day we met up to talk through the ideas I had.  He jumped at the opportunity and we quickly set a date for production!

Cameraman – check!

Now, what to wear?  I have to admit, style isn’t something that comes naturally to me. I was born and raised in Africa, and we’ve got quite a chilled out attitude towards fashion. Rather than following global fashion trends, we unapologetically set our own.

Nevertheless, I enjoy the whole process of dressing up and putting together different outfits!

I decided to call on a few lovely people I know at Bloomingdales Dubai – yeah, I know we’re pretty lucky to have one here. It’s the only Bloomie’s store outside of the US until now.

I was so humbled by how supportive the team were! Super organized and professional too. Having worked with the team on several events before, I’ve grown to really appreciate & respect their work ethics. It’s always such a pleasure teaming up with a good group of people that value these kinds of relationships. For the fitting’s, I was paired up with Jihae, a talented stylist from Korea. Even though she’s super busy, ‘G’, as her colleagues call her, set aside a few hours to help me with the different looks! She’s such a star, I can’t thank her enough!

Lisa, José, Lotho, Kara and Zainab –  Your efforts haven’t unnoticed – THANK YOU!
